a) THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM FY MEMORANDUM JAN 8 1973 TO: Mayor and Council December 22nd, 1978 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held December 20th, 1978. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman P.F. Ranger, Chairman Alderman J.J. Keryluk, Co-Chairman F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Mr. Dave Walker of B.C. Hydro Mr. Peter Cooper of B.C. Hydro ITEM I Re: Bus Loop Through Rec Centre The pros and cons of looping the buses through the Rec Centre parking lot were discussed. It was felt that the present loop provided a service to residents who use the Rec Centre and also an important service to the Senior Citizens which would be even mcre valuable once the new addition is completed. This loop also allowed the use of the building as a shelter by patrons waiting for the bus. Routing the buses around Wilson, Kingsway, and Kelly back to Mary Hill Road would require that some form of bus shelter be provided on Wilson or Kingsway. The Committee recommends that the bus loop be continued through the parking lot. The Committee also recommends the following changes with respect to stop locations and these changes are acceptable to B.C. Hydro: a. The Dewdney Bus which presently lays-over in the Rec Centre lot will lay-over on Wilson Avenue, 50 feet west of the parking lov: entrance and then circulate through the Rec Centre loop with just a short stop for pick-up. , The bus which presently stops briefly directly in front of the Rec Centre will instead stop where the present Dewdney bus stop is located. There will, therefore, be no laying-over within the parking lot and the stops will take place away from the area of major congestion in front of the entrance to the Rec Centre. ITEM IT Re: Bus Exchange at: Shaughnessy and McAllister Intersection Mr. Dave Walker explained the operation of the bus schedule at this intersection as shown on the attached sketches.
