Prairie & Chester
re rd. widening

From the Public Works Committee, October Ist, 1976 with respect to
the proposed subdivision at Prairie and Chester as shown on Drawing No.
209-103 and recommending that the 14 foot widening shown on Prairie
Avenue be reduced to 9 feet due to a change in set-back requirements
upon finalization of the proposed new Zoning By~law.

Moved by Alderman Mabbett:

Seconded by Alderman Thompson:

That the report of the Public Works Committee, October ist, 1976
recommending with respect to the proposed subdivision at Prairie and
Chester and shown on Drawing No. 209-103, that the 14 foot widening
shown on Prairie Avenue be reduced to 9 feet, %e approved.

Carried.
Aldermen Keryluk, Laking and Ranger voted against the resolution.

Prior to the question being called, a discussion ensued during
which Alderman Mabbett advised that as the applicants had strongly
opposed giving up 14 feet the Committee had agreed to review the question
again in view of the proposed new Zoning By-law which will change the
requirements with respect to required set-backs. Alderman Laking expressed
concern over the small sideyard that would exist on the adjacent property
on the southeast corner of the intersection if a similar acquisition is
required and further suggested that the trees on the subject property
which must be removed, should be moved now so as to ensure that any
future owners of the new homes would be aware that the City had acquired

a portion of the property for widening purposes.
