Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That the report of the Public Works Committee, October ist, 1976 recommending with respect to the proposed subdivision at Prairie and Chester and shown on Drawing No. 209-103, that the 14 foot widening shown on Prairie Avenue be reduced to 9 feet, %e approved. Prior to the question being called, a discussion ensued during which Alderman Mabbett advised that as the applicants had strongly opposed giving up 14 feet the Committee had agreed to review the question again in view of the proposed new Zoning By-law which will change the requirements with respect to required set-backs. Alderman Laking expressed concern over the small sideyard that would exist on the adjacent property on the southeast corner of the intersection if a similar acquisition is required and further suggested that the trees on the subject property which must be removed, should be moved now so as to ensure that any future owners of the new homes would be aware that the City had acquired a portion of the property for widening purposes.
