City Engineer SUBJECT: Relocation of Bus Route No. 162, River Springs Westwood/Kitchener Area (Public Works Committee Meeting of November 26, 1991) Recommendation: That the City of Port Coquitlam request that BC Transit relocate a portion of bus route No. 162 River Springs from Patricia Avenue and Hastings Street to Westwood Street and the Lougheed Highway as described in Option | in the letter from BC Transit, dated September 30, 1991. Letter from BC Transit, dated September 30, 1991 showing optional bus routes. Memorandum from the Project Engineer, dated November 4, 1991 summarizing the results of the October 30, 1991 public meeting regarding bus route options for the Westwood area. Letter from Clive Rock, P. Eng., Assistant General Manager, Planning, BC Transit, dated November 18, 1991, regarding changes to bus route No. 162 River Springs. Discussion: Diue to the Kitchener realignment project, BC Transit is relocating the bus route No. 162 River Springs through the Westwood/Woodland/Patricia/Hastings area. In the attached letter dated September 30, 1991, BC Transit submitted three options for bus route relocations. The Public Works/Traffic Cornmittee held a public hearing on October 30, 1991 at the Westwood Elementary School in order to obtain input from local residents on bus route options. As shown on the attached memorandum from the Project Engineer, dated November 4, 1991, the vast majority of residents preferred that the bus be rerouted along Westwood Street and the Lougheed Highway (Option 1). In the attached letter dated November 18, 1991, BC Transit is proposing to increase the frequency of the bus service in this area in the 1992/1993 Annual Service Plan. The Public Works/Traffic Committee recommends that Council request BC Transit to implement the Westwood/Lougheed Highway bus routes (Option 1). } f A oA IR. Zahynd,P.
