” THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM 1976 TO: Mayor and Council June 18th, 1979 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held June 14th, 1979, IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman P.F. Ranger Alderman J.d. Keryluk F.E. Peters, P. Eng. ITEM I Re: Request for New STOP Signs The new frontage road known as the Lougheed-Meridian Road is now paved and open to traffic and requires a STOP sign at its intersection with Coast Meridian Road. The Committee recomiends that this STOP sign be installed. : The Committee also had requests for STOP signs on. Vincent at Grant and on Fraser at Newberry Street. The Comm- ittee did not feel that stop signs were warranted at this time and decided to review the request in six months. ITEM IT Re: Loading Zone at McAllister Plaza Alderman Mabbett had requested a report on relocating the loading zone at McAllister Plaza from McAllister Avenue to Donald Street in order to create more angle parking spaces on McAllister. In considering this request the Committee looked at the present visibility problem at the intersection of Donald and McAllister. The absence of parking on the east side of the inter- section helps traffic which is emerging from Donald Street .to get out of the intersection. If parking were allowed the visi- bility to the east would be as bad as it now is to the west and it would be twice as difficult to get out. The Committee also took into consideration that the proposed scheme has existed at one time in the past and was changed because there was a problem there. The Committee recommends no changes to the parking on McAllister. [acces
