May 16th, 1977 /3. expressed concern that lack of adequate access would create a problem for emergency vehicles in entering the area; however, Alderman Laking pointed out additional access will be provided by the proposed extension of Cornwall and Finley Streets. Mr. A. Lamberton, 3783 Cedar Drive, inquired as to the construction timing for the two bridges over the —_ Cedar ditch, and Alderman Laking advised tiiat one would be installed in Phase I and the other in Phase III. Mrs. Barbara Kuppan, 3331 Cornwall Street, inquired as to the completed width of Finley Street, and the City Engineer advised it would be 30' - curb to curb. Mrs. Kuppan then expressed concern at the probable increased traffic and parking problem that would be generated on both Finley and Cornwall Streets by the proposed park within the development and Cedar Drive Park, and Alderman Mabbett advised that a sidewalk will be constructed on the East side of Cornwall Street and along the North side of Prairie Avenue for the safety of pedestrians. Mr. L. Martin, 3357 Cornwall Street, inquired how far it was intended to extend that street, and Alderman Laking advised it would be constructed 110' further from its present Northerly terminus, and then loop into the proposed connecter street off Cedar Drive. Mr. Martin inquired how many additional homes would be built -) along the extension of the street, and Alderman Laking advised there would be three - one on the West side and two on the East side. Alderman Thompson then mentioned that all traffic studies have indicated Cedar Drive and Prairie Road will adequately carry traffic witn no undue congestion; however, Mrs. Kuppan pointed out that presently there is not sufficient room for pedestrians between the ditch and vehicular traffic on the East side of Cedar Drive at Prairie Avenue. Mr. Garrett inquired as to adequate school accommodation, and Alderman Laking advised this has been provided for in advance of the development. The Public Hearing concluded at 8:00 p.m., and the regular Council meeting then commenced.
