ZIMMERMAN TERRACE’S DAHMS rink got off to a rough start at the Canada Winter Games in Bathurst, New Brunswick last week and just couldn’t shake the bad luck. The local curling rink was representing B.C. at the games after earning the title cf the province’s best teen curling team last year. Facing the eventual gold and silver medal winning teams in their -pool, the competition was fierce. On March 3 Terrace took on an extre- mely tough Saskatchewan squad which went on to take home the gold. Saskatchewan came out with an early 6-1 lead after scoring four in the third end. They won 11-2. | * That night Terrace shook hands after _ six ends going down to team New Bruns- wick 12-0. New Brunswick came up with three three-point ends in that game and were the games’ silver medal winners. Wednesday, March 5 the Dahms rink played its final round robin tournament against Newfoundland and Labrador, With the score tied at five in the ninth end it was the clasest game the boys had all week, 7 ; But in the tenth end Newfoundland and Labrador found its mark scoririg one point to finish Terrace off 6-5, Terrace’s 0-5 récord meant they faced ‘Team Yukon, whicly also had a 0-5. record in the A pool, playing for 11th and 12th spot. | ~~ 'Terrace came out strong scoring two in the first end and one in each of the third and fourth ends. The Yukon's sole point of the gare came in the fifth and but they were forced to shake hands in ‘the sixth after Terrace racked up four point. The Dahms rink won the game 8-1 earning 11th spot in the the 12-team tour- hament. — a
