Fagan found guilty
on two drug charges

A SMITHERS jury has
convicted a local man on
two of three drug-related
charges stemming from an
investigation three years
ago.

Rene Fagan, 66, was
found guilty of one count
possession of cocaine for
the purposes of trafficking
and one count. of. posses-
sion of proceeds from
crime.

Held in B.C. Supreme
Court in Smithers earlier
‘this month, the four-day
trial saw Fagan forego his
right to counsel and defend
himself.

Railway code violation
results in $50,000 fine

A PROVINCIAL COURT
judge has fined Canadian
National Railways $50,000
after finding the corpora-
tion guilty of a federal la-

1997 collapse of a railway
bridge near here which
killed two people.

Man wanted
after attack

RCMP ARE looking for the man who sexually. assaulted
the female occupant of a residence on the 3600 Block of
Kalum at 8 a.m. March 22.

The female was treated at Mills Memorial Hospital
for a number of injuries sustained in the attack and re-
leased.

RCMP say the suspect is a native mate, approxima-
tely 5° 8” to 5’ 10”, thin to medium build, wearing a
prey hooded sweat jacket and blue jeans. He wore a blue
bandana as a mask to cover his face.
