Thank You Dear Sir: With the cutbacks recently suffered in our social pro- grams and more ta come, I often sit and wonder what is happening to us, I find myself losing faith in our government and in society. No one cares about their neighbour. Then something happens that reminds me that that is not always true. A friend welcomes a stranger into their home simply because they necd help; a store goes bankrupt and thinks about the other hungry people in our community; groups pull logether to find solutions to hunger; people pitch in to send someone home who is stranded in town. To those people and orga- nizations who do what they can for their neighbours, | thank you. You restore my faith in humanity. You remind me that there are people who care aboul others they don’t even know. You make me proud to be part of a community that is willing to put some- one else’s needs ahead of your own.
