(56 grams each) McIntosh toffee bars 1/4 cup (50 ml) Butter or hard margarine 2/3 cup (150 ml) Sweetened condensed milk 4 cups (1 It) Special K cereal 30-35 large Marshmallows You will need: a table knife, a double boiler, measuring cups, a medium bowl, a mixing: spoon, a hot pad, a table fork, waxed paper anda” rubber spatula. (Parents should be on hand to help with the stove.) os 1, Break up the toffee bars by placing one bar in - the palm of your hand. Use..the handle of the knife to hit it, cracking it. Put the pieces into-the ~* top of the double boiler. Add the butter or margarine. Add the milk. Put some hot water in the bottom of the double boiler. Set the top part in and put the double boiler on medium-hot __ burner. Stir the toffee mixture occasionally until it is melted and smooth. Move the double boiler to the hot pad. Keep the toffee mixture over the hot water. Jo | 2. Pour the Special K cereal into the bowl. Stick the fork into the end of one of the marshmallows. Roll it in the toffee mixture to coat the bottom end and sides, (The top end will be the end it rests on, the end you push off the fork with your fingers.) Hold the marshmallow over the toffee mixture to drain for a moment or two, then roll in the cereal. Use your other hand to help to cover it with the cereal. Push the coated mar- shmallow off the fork onto the waxed paper on the counter and turn it to stand on the uncoated end. Repeat with the rest of the marshmallows, If the toffee mixture gets stiff, heat the water un- derneath until it begins to boil again.
