Artificial legs are known to emit extremely high temperatures
when they are broken during the hurning process. Occasionally,
you may find warnings to this effect on the wrappers of such
logs.

The general public are unaware of the limitations Placed on
such fireplaces, chimneys and fuels.

type 3 The BCBC requires conformity with the adopted U.L.C.
Standards. it is an inspection practice to look for the
certifying U.L.¢c. labels.

Independent testing agencies also carry out testing on
such chimneys and affix their labels.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs, through the Building
Standards Branch, has deemed the private testing agency
process acceptable.

There are a great number of concerns regarding these

certifications. They are:

The testing agency will not release the results of the test
carried out on the excuse of client confidentiality.

The testing agency listing does not indicate the date of the
Standard it tested to, accordingly the test May not be valid.
