THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM vos COUNCIL APR 26 1982 B. Kirk, DATE: April 22, 1982. Cicy Administrator. FROM: J. Maitland, City Treasurer. SUBJECT: Office Cleaning Contract. RECOMMENDATION : That one month's termination notice NOT be given to the new cleaners in the City Hall, Recreation Office and Library. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Since the janitoress we had on staff retired in 1979, we have awarded the janitorial service annually to the firm with the lowest tender, the only exception to this was 1981 when I extended Happy Dusters contract for a year without going to tender, this was done during the strike when we did not have the staff to operate in our usual fashion. Qur purchasing procedure for the supply of services is basically to go with the lowest tender providing we can confidently expect the level of service to be sufficient. The spread sheet on the tenders received for janitorial service are attached. The service provided by the new janitors has been good to date. As Council has requested the Administration Committee will soon be meeting to review our complete purchasing procedures. J. Maitland. JM/ms Attachment wee RN ine i
