THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C 0 Uy \ Qo + : , j 7 MEMORANDUM JAM 26 198! TO: Mayor and Council January 15, 1981 FROM: Public Works Committee Report of Public Works Committee meeting held Tuesday, January 13th, 1981. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman L.M. Traboulay Alderman J.J. Keryluk F.E. Peters, City Engineer ITEM I Re: Parking at 2600 Mary Hill Road At the request of Council the Committee considered the complaint from Mr. & Mrs. Graham of 2600 Mary Hill Road dealing with vehicles parked in front of their driveway and blocking it. The Grahams have been prevented from using their driveway a number of times in the past year and have made complaints to the police and By-law Officer. Cars have been towed away from in front on the driveway. However, having to wait for a vehicle to be towed away before being able to use their driveway is a frustrating experience. x investigation, it appears that the main problem at “this address is that the driveway may not be recognized as such by drivers looking for a Place to park. The driveway consists of two wheel tracks and is obviously not used very frequently and this may lead drivers to believe that it is abandoned. The Committee would be reluctant to install parking signs to define a driveway as this is obviously not what parking signs are intended for. It would seem to the Committee that it would be much better for the Grahams to define their own driveway, either by _ putting markers out close to the road or by putting up signs saying "Private Driveway - No Parking". Therefore, the Committee recommends that the City do not install No Parking signs at this location. lly submitted, F.E. Peters> ~Eng., City Engineer
