Call for Entry

Silk Road

Silk Road is the ttle of an exhibition to be
held in the Gallery of BC Ceramics during
the month of May to celebrate Asian Her-
itage Month. This will be a juried show
open te members of the Potters Guibkd of
British Columbia. The criteria for submis-
sion are as follows:

* Asian hentage pollery: ceramic work
produced using traditionul Asian meth-
ods, e.g. Tozan Kiln

* Ceramic work influenced by Asian
techniques and aesthetics

« produced in 2001 or 2002, and never
previously exhibited

Place Setting

In June the Gallery of BC Ceramics and
the Wood Co-op will mount a show featur-
ing the work of our members. This show
is junied amd is open to all members of the
Pouers Guild of British Columbia, The
theme is the place setting: pieces may be
functional or non-functional. Submissions
should consist of: a dinner plate, a side
plate and a soup bowl,

Clay Weck Getaway

Instructors, Jo & Vie Duffhwes (potters
since 1979) of JoVic Pottery and hosts,
Lexie & Lawrence Lambert of Page Point
Inn in Ladysmith present Savery Ponery
by the Sea, 5 days of clay immersion with
instruction on the making and firing of
raku potlery. Enjoy spectacular waterfront
accommodation and delicious dining at

Intense schedule includes field trips, stu-
dio tours, recreation and Icisure time (Page
Point Inn has a sightseeing bus), Tools and
Materials provided. Workshop attire and
hiking boots are a must. Jo and Vie can
provide a perfect workshop environment,
while Page Point Inn overlooks pictur-
esque Ladysmith Harbour (Harrowsmith
magazine named Ladysmith as one of the
10) prettiest towns in Canada}. Executive
(Chef Ian ver Teer and his staff assure you
of a dining experience you'll remember.

Workshop participants can choose to fly
into Vancouver or Victoria, but will then
require further transportation to Ladysmith.
Participants flying into Nanaimo, a mere
7-8 minutes from the studio and Inn, can
arrange for pick-up via Page Point Inn.

Les Manning Workshop

Fraser Valley Potters Guild Annual Juried Show

CLAY 2002 will be held at the Evergreen Cultural Centre, 1205
Pinetree Way, Coquitlam from February 24 to March 30. It is
open to members of FV PG as of February 1.

This year’s juror will be Les Manning. His comments can be
heard at the Guild’s February meeting on Thursday February 21,
at the Centre, 7.15PM.

Les will attend the show's opening on Sunday, February 24,4:00-
& O0OPM.

Dialogue on Form and Process: considering a personal process
