THE POTTERS GUILD OF GRITISH COLUMBIA 315 W. Cordova St. Vancouver, 85.C. V68 1E5 March 1975 After all these years we are finally organized as a Guild with a properly registered constitution. Our name is : THE POTTERS GUILD OF BRITISH COLUMBIA In the interest of thrift and economy, all the old stationery will be used before we order new supplies. APRIL 5th WORKSHOP There will be a general meeting of the Guild at Surnaby on April 5% in conjunction with the Workshop. Specific time will be announced at the Work- shop. We are looking forward to seeing ou-of~town members. The Anniversary Supper is cancelled. We cannot risk ordering from the caterers when supper applications are delayed due to postal difficulties. Those who have already paid for their supper will receive refunds from the Treasurer when regular mail deliveries have resumed. We will, however, con- tinue to accept Workshop applications as they come into our office at 315 W.Cordova Street, Vancouver. Instead of the supper we have planned a social gathering at the conclusion of the Workshop, when wine will be served. Costs: $1.00 per person, which can be paid when registering for the Workshop April St. We are sorry to report that the Pottery Auction was not a success. There were no reasonable bids for the pots, so it was moved and seconded, in proper democratic fashion, that the pots be stored until the sale at Hycroft and sold then. The motion was passed and the potters at Peg's Place offered to store the collection until November. There are plans to have the jurors of Ceramics '75 check the pots and select the best of them for the start of @ permanent collection. Our sincere thanks go to Marie-Claire von Hausmann and Nancy Star who worked hard organizing the auction. It was a disappoin- ting evening for them, but we can surely get a better price by selling them at Hycroft. At the February meeting Stan Clarke told us about the new Canadian Guild of Potters that is being organized. You will remember that Frances Hatfield sent us news of this last year. The Toronto Group have set up their awn Canadian Guild. Our Guild voted in favor of affiliating with this new group when the organization is complete. Stan has agreed to be our representative. He will attend a meeting in Montreal soon with representatives from all the provinces. We are indeed fortunate to have such an experienced and highly respected potter to speak on our behalf. Provincial funds are not available to us until the new Guild is "un fait accompli" , but Stan travels East on business and is willing to find time for Guild affairs while he is there. Thank you from us all, Stan.
