As a volunteer fire fighter I make way less than the career

firefighters and | think they. should be paid more for thier

Where else can you see emergency ‘professionals actually
put thier lives at risk 24 hours a day and still see them smile?
These career firefighters not only work thier regular shifts
but also are on call 24/7 in volunteer firefighter capacities

If anyone out there seems to think they are up.to the job -
they will be glad to know that the City of Terrace does have
openings for career positions from time to time.

If you like to get really dirty when still in your: Sunday
best come on out, fires seem to happen at. the most-inop-
portune times. If you like a job that gets you from total calm

to being expected to control total chaos at the drop of a hat, .

come on out. If you’like being expected to be almost expend-
able by society, come on out. ,

If. you like to be the person that is expected to be the lone ©
person ina crowd that is supposed to do almost, superhuman

tasks, come on out.
If you like to be the person that-is expected by the tax-
payer to-run straight up°Terrace Mountain to put out fires

‘In response to Ms. Andolfatto’ s letter stating that a dog
biting.a person is “what dogs do, i isn’t it?”, in my opinion,
absolutely not!

i Dogs attacking humans is. not acceptable under circum- .
stances other than perhaps protecting their families, or. act.
ing as a guard dog in a secure environment.’

~ I cannot recal! any:media coverage of a child bite causing
,grievous injury or death: To compare a dog biting someone »
to a child biting’someone is ludicrous. :

Dog owners need to be responsible and vigilant i in en-
suring public safety. If you are aware your dog has vicious -
tendencies, there are things you can do to prevent someone
from. getting hurt.

If you are interested in n tips, call ‘your local animal control"
agency or veterinarian..

Responsible dog owners provide not only the basic. re-
quirements such as food, water, and shelter; but also exer-
cise, socialization, preventive veterinary care, spaying/neu-
tering, and comply with the local dog control bylaw.

-There is a common saying which for the most Part, 1
‘agree with; “There are no bad dogs, just bad owners.”
