There are approximately 20 members in the Terrace branch, and for the past three years they’ve been running woods tows for lo- cal children, But this year the members decided they wanted to do something different. ‘Prince George has a wonderful forestry camp, and we decided, why not try something like that bere,” says organizer Donna Diana. ‘After all, forestry is a very important part of what Terrace is.’” As a base for the camp, Canadian Women in Timber will be using the newly re- modelled Kin camp, out at Lakelse Lake, on May 4-5, They will be the first group to use the camp. There are many events planned for the weekend to show students the wide vari- ety of pcaple who usc the - forests. The weekend will start off with a forestry tour, based on the woods tours Cana- dian Women in Timber has conducted in the past. Dur- ing the tour children will learn about tree growth, the harvesting cycle, forest food and wildlife. Students will also be shown some important in- formation on how to survive in the woods if they get lost, or separated fom their familics while camping.
