In the best-of-five final with Kitimat, Kermodes won 15-9 and 15-2 before losing the third - set 15.9, They came back to clinch the win with a 15-7 victory in the fourth set. Kermodes’ Connie Hansen was named the most valuable player of the playoff. “At Kitimat, Prince Rupert ar- rived late and had to default their first match to Kitimat by 15-0. Rupert took the next set. 16-14, but Kitimat hung on to beat Rupert 15-12 in the clin- cher. _Kermodes had an easier time against the coast gang by win- ning 15-3, 15-10. Against Kitimat. they won 15-2, 15-10. The best-of-five final was over in three games with Kermades putting away Kitimat 15-12, 15-8, 15-1. A MVP was not chosen in this playoff. Meanwhile, in single ‘A’ playoffs on the same date, Bulkley Valley Christian won. downed Houston 15-1, 15-11, while Bulkley Valley. knocked the five-team ‘boys side at: Aiyansh, The Bulkley . boys went through the round-robin pre- liminary with four straight wins, Nishga took second at three- and-one, followed by Hazelton at two-and-two, Houston one- ; and-three, and Smithers zero- and-four. In the semi-finals, Bulkley ‘Valley defeated Houston: 15-7, 15-4, while Hazelton- took Nishga 14-16, 15-10, 16-14. The championship set: went. 15-6, 15-8 for Bulkley over Hazelton. . Smithers won the most sports- manlike team award, while Richard Sampson of Hazelton picked up the most valuable player trophy, Smithers sitls won the single - ‘A’ finals at Houston, as ex- pected. They placed first in the preliminary round-robin, . fol- lowed by Bulkley Valley Chris- tian, Hazelton and Houston. In the semi-finals, Smithers off Hazelton 15-5, 15-11. The playoff for third and fourth saw Hazelton beat Houston 15-12, 17-15. In the final, Smithers defeated Bulkley Valley 15-10, 15-11. Smithers advances to the B.C. finals at Vancouver’s Notre Dame from Dec. 3 to 5.
