Kitimat Arena and Game time
is 10 p.m.

The local boys say they would

’ hockey enthusiasts out for the
game.

There is also a lack of funds in

. the Minor Hockey League
. coffers for expenses such as
' equipment and, more important

in our arena-less town,
. travelling, says juvenile coach
' Ernie Rasi.

The juvenile team is forced to

- hold their practices at the
; Kitimat Arena and the only

times that are avallable and
: practicle for the boys are
- Sunday nights. Add the

travelling costs and the $25
: hourly feefor the Arena and you

to the league is urged to do so by

Funeral services were held
Saturday for Cecil Donald
McKay who had resided in
Terrace for the past nine years.

Services were held at 1 p.m.
at Knox United Church.
Cremation followed in Prince
George.

McKay, who was 62 years old,

CFTK ‘PRESENTS ‘THE MUNIPULATORS’

New TV drama from Vancouver

January 31, on CFTK television
at 9 p.m.,, (in color) for a new
seven-week season of in-
volvement in the lives of
problems of his clients.

Mare Strange again stars as
Rick in CBC-TV's second round
of The Manipulators, the
Vancouver-produced series
which made an impressive bow

last season with an initial five:

episodes. The mini-series was
well received, both by
audiences and crilics,

Philip Keatley, who guided
the initial series as executive
producer, serves in the same
capacity for the new-season
Manipulators.

Writers of the various
episodes include several who
contributed scripts to the first
series: Ben Maartman, who
wrote the debut episode on drug
addiction last season (Spike ‘in
the Wall); and Don Eccleston,

Indian is Len George, son of
Chief Dan George who also
guest stars in the episode.

Chief Dan, who recently won
the New York Film Critics’
Award as “best supporting

actor” for his roie in Little Big .

Man, began his career in CBC-
TV's Cariboo Country in the
early 60's. He was a
“discovery” of writer Paul St,
Pierre, now an MP, and
producer Philip Keatley, and is
a familiar and unforgettable
face on CBC-TV (most recently
as a narrator for the historical
documentary by Peter Kelly,
The Magnificent Gift). ;
WRITER - DIRECTOR

Mare Strange who is The
Manipulators’ star, in the role
of Rick Nicholson, turns writer-
director for one of the new-
season episodes: The Flock,
about a middle-aged man who
runs a shelter for transient
youths.

Joe Austin guest stars as the
hippies’ mentor, and Shirley
Strange (Marc's wife in real
life) plays a runaway girl ex-
pecting a child.

Also among the guest stars in
the New Manipulators series

Czech actor who immigrated to

son in The Code (Feb. 7): this
story of the generation gap
centres around a B.C, logger
and small farmer, played by

mother’s serious iliness. The
episode was filmed on location
on Vancouver Island.

Rae Brown portrays the

of Quesnel has agreed to par-
ticipate with Cariboo Pulp and
Paper Co. in an -air-pollution
study. The town has indicated it
will pay 20 per cent of the
estimated $19,000 total cost.
