Let us show you some good old-fashioned Festival du Bois hospitality, make you feel right at home, and share a bit of our friendly joie de vivre with you! On our stages this year we present Québec-based groups who find new ways to make traditional music sing for the 21% century, astonishing dance, intoxicating local and world sounds along with some of the finest family entertainers around. From Québec comes acclaimed “power trio” Genticorum, the sparkling ‘two-family’ band, Dentdelion, Les Poules a Colin, a feisty young tradition-inspired group, and Le Bal a V’Huile, whose harmonic voices raised in traditional song will send | shivers up your e spine. We have three- time World Champion Hoop Dancer Dallas Arcand from Alberta and Matuto, a New York band who blend the sounds of Brazilian Carnaval with the twang of Americana. We also have two very different west coast-based groups: the French folk-Celtic-old-time band Alouest, and the Vashaan Ensemble playing Persian traditional music and folk music from Iran. For the youngster in us all, there’s multi-faceted entertainer Roger Dallaire, the hilarious Major Conrad Flapps, and Acme Circus — a multilingual gourmet fusion of circus, comedy and theatre. Festival favourites, comic/clowns Sand Northrup and Frenchie the Clown return. For the second year, your Saturday ticket gives you all-day access to the festival, including the evening show with Le Bal a I’Huile and Genticorum in the Grand Chapiteau, starting at 5:30pm. You'll find the details on our Friday, March 1 co-presented Genticorum concert with the City of Port Coquitlam 100th Anniversary celebrations, as well as our special Place des Arts post-festival concert on March 9 with the incredible Cécile Doo-Kingué in this guide. This year’s festival is open and diverse, with some of the well-loved and familiar along with some things that are new. Come share the weekend with us. We welcome you to come marvel and enjoy — and discover! And, even now, let us look forward to our quarter-century celebration in 2014!
