On behalf of the • Committee may I extend a cordial invita-tion to all members and friends in British Columbia to be with us in Seattle on September 4th, 5th and 6th. Very sincerely, Sleeper plane fares to Europé from New York are now the lowest in transatlantic airline history. Scandinavian Airlines System announce that effective August 11, the charge for sleeper ac-comodations to Europé on the airline’s DC-6’s would be only $45 above the regular fare. This price compares to the $125 extra now charged by other air-lines. In addition to this announce-ment of the reduced fares, the airline also stated that for the first time in transatlantic airline history Scandinavian Airlines would offer daily sleeper service in DC-6’s. With the new service the airline becomes tihe only transatlantic airline with daily sleeper plane flights for which reservations can be made in advance and the only airline operating sleeper equipment to the British Isles as well as Scandinavia. Scandinavian Airlines flies DC-6’s direct to Glasgow, Co-penhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. Schedules are arranged to make direct connections in Glasgow for Paris and London and in Co-penhagen via the routes of the company to all Europé as well as the Near East. In keeping with the reputa-tion of the DC-6 as the “world’s most spacious airliner”, the sleeper berths are commodious and comfortable. The lower berth is 3^ ft. wide and 6 ft. and 3 inches long. It is roomy enough to accomodate 2 people if desired. The upper berth is 3 ft wide and 6y2 ft- long. A folding ladder permits easy access to the upper berth with-out obstructing the aisle. The berths have sponge rugger mat-tresses and curtains operate on a sliding rack. There is full headroom with an adjustable mirror and makeup kit for ladies and shaving kit for men. Other accessories include a jewel box, ash tray, waste disposal. Each has cloth-es hangers, eold air outlets, reading lights, hostess call but-ton and a window. The entire DC-6 fleet of Scandinavian Airlines is equip-ped with these berths. The new sleeper facilities add an extra luxury to the SAS service which offers the fastest daily ovemight service of any airline from New York International Airport to Scotland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden with direct connections at Glasgow and penhagen to all Europé. För att kunna täcka hela behovet har man nu avtalat med Grekland om leverans av 800 ton grekisk tobak, av vilket parti det blir 700 miljoner cigarretter.
