The Lund University Glee Club arrives in New York May 19 on the S/S “Drottningholm” of the Swedish American Line for a tour of the United States. It will be the finst visit of a Swedish singing society since oefore the war. The Glee Club consist of 40 singers under the direction of Josef Hedar, choir conductor of the Cathedral of Lund. A visit is arranged to the New Sweden Tercentenary monument in Wilmington, Del., which marks the spot where the first Swedish settlers land-ed in 1638. This is the choir’s second visit to the United States; the first tour took place in 1904. The Glee Club was organized in 1831. The majority of the sing-ers are students at Lund University, which was founded in 1668. (1776-1839), father of the system of Swedish gymastics, will oe held -between July 27 and August 13 and will be combined with a World Congress for Physical Culture and a Gymnast Camp at Malma Field, 60 miles south of- Stockholm. Dourses and ieetures will also oe arranged. As in 1939, when the First Lingiad took place, the main events will be staged at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium.
